Just as you led us from Kobol and found the Twelve Worlds, so now we hope and pray that you will lead us to a new home, where we may begin life anew.

Now, the pain we all feel at this dreadful loss reminds me and reminds us that while we may come from different places and speak in different tongues our hearts beat as one.

And what would Charlie do... now that we're so close... to answering the most meaningful questions... ever asked by mankind?

Now we all need to focus on the many, many ways technology can lead us back to our real lives, our own bodies, our own communities, our own politics, our own planet.

In addition to the supply levers that we can push -- and remember, we need large amounts, because at the moment, we get 90 percent of our energy from fossil fuels -- in addition to those levers, we could talk about other ways of solving this issue.

But in a world of conservation reliance, those stories have very real consequences, because now, how we feel about an animal affects its survival more than anything that you read about in ecology textbooks.

The first is a really crazy project that we're building right now, called Death and the Powers. And it's a big opera, one of the larger opera projects going on in the world right now.

Here we are in Vancouver, at the head of the Cascadia Corridor that stretches south across the US border to Seattle.

Even before any of these logistical systems are in place, each of us shoppers can act now, if every single adult in the US made a few small changes to our shopping behavior.

So what we're trying to do now is to figure out if we can actually use this technology to map the building blocks of life in a wide variety of diseases.

(Laughter) So are we at another possible phase change here, where we kind of sleepwalk into a future that none of us actually wants?

If Neil Armstrong said, when he walked on the moon, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind, " perhaps what we ought to ask ourselves is: What steps do we need to take today?

We'd have a far better -- far better knowledge of what's happening on our planet environmentally than could be gathered with satellites and a handful of government sensor nets alone.

And now, we're using our creativity in a certain direction, to build fantastic machines with incredible capabilities, maybe even one day an entirely new species.
